Guitar Rock Licks Encyclopedia is an excellent book, covering a variety of styles and genres, ranging from the 1950s to the 1990s, and includes 300 licks in the styles of the masters. This is a great book for improvising guitarists, as it will give an idea of how to achieve the sounds of many different styles of rock. The accompanying CD includes demonstrations of the examples in the book, allowing you to hear how the example should sound, as well as giving you the opportunity to play along yourself. The examples are presented in easy-to-read TAB and standard music notation. Please note that this book is not for beginners and requires prior musical experience and knowledge of music theory. A theory review is included as an appendix at the end of the book.
