Orlando Lassus , also known as Orlando Di Lasso , (c. 1530 - 1594) was a Flemish Renaissance composer whose work is considered second only to that of Palestrina and Victoria. He was a master of both Sacred and Secular compositions, creating over 2000 musical works. Many of these, including his setting of the Stabat Mater , have been researched and edited by Clive Wearing . Clive Wearing (b. 1938) is a British musician, conductor and musicologist. He sang as a Lay Clerk at Westminster Cathedral for many years, and founded several choirs which have helped to bring about a new interest and appreciation of the works of many Renaissance composers.
