A WEDDING BOUQUET is undoubtedly Berners' most original and successful work. Some might say unique, since choral ballets are rare indeed. It is based on the opening pages of Gertrude Stein's play, They Must. Be Wedded. To TheirWife. The first performance took place at Sadler's Wells Theatre on 27th April 1937, with scenario, costumes and set designs by Berners himself, choreography by Frederick Ashton.
