Winter’s Lullaby evokes the tranquil beauty of a snow scene in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Clear treble voices, solo flute, and piano add simple melodies to a text which “sings a lullaby to winter.” Snow melts, ice cracks, and birds fill the clear winter sky with song. Unison choral singing alternates with part-singing, nuanced further by contrasts in legato and non-legato lines. Winter’s Lullaby is dedicated to Susan Johnson, who taught music and directed choirs in Bucks County for thirty-two years. Flute part included. Duration: 4:10
