Among his French contemporaries, the composer André Jolivet was an outsider who consciously and successfully avoided the constraints of schools and stylistic trends. In spite of this fact, today, next to Olivier Messiaen, Jolivet is regarded as the most important composer of his generation. Thus, in 1964 his works were most frequently performed in France. On the present CD the SWR Vokalensemble Stuttgart, directed by Marcus Creed, make a few of his choral works more well known.
