Originally composed for soli, choir and organ, Anton n Dvorák’s Mass in D major first became popular in the composer’s later version with orchestral accompaniment. Besides the original version with organ or orchestra the new arrangement for wind quintet [flute, oboe, clarinet, horn and bassoon] offers a third version. Its colorful, chamber music-like instrumental scoring presents an ensemble whose size is ideal for a typical church or chamber choir, so that this beautiful work can now be performed in concert by smaller choirs.
