At the early age of twelve, Geronimo Gimenez was already among the 1st violins at the Teatro Principal in Spain and by the age of seventeen, he was conducting opera and zarzuela performances in his hometown of Seville, Spain. became the conductor at the Teatro Apolo. After his tenure there, he went on to conduct at the Teatro de la Zarzuela which was founded by fellow zarzuela composer Francisco Barbieri.
