This superb two CD set features some of the best New Orleans Jazz music, recorded in the fifties, in New Orleans and San Francisco. The musicians are all famous New Orleans maestros and most of them are native to this musical hotpot. There are 8 different bands and you will hear: George Lewis And His New Orleans Jazzband, George Girard And His new Orleans Five, Alvin Alcorn?s Jam Session, Johnny Wiggs? New Orleans Jazz Club Group, Kid Ory And His Creole Jazzband, Percy Humphrey?s Jam Session, Sharkey Bonano At Lenfant?s Lounge and Lee Collins At Joe Mare?s Place. George Lewis and Kid Ory played many times at the Hangover Club in San Francisco where their sessions are recorded. All the other orchestras are recorded in New Orleans.
