Michael Praetorius was one of the greatest composers of the Renaissance Period. He is remembered today for two reasons ? his massive number of compositions and his remarkable treaties entitled Syntagma musicum. This describes nearly every aspect of German music at the beginning of the 17th Century. These dances are from his volume of sacred music entitled Musae Aeonia and make ideal short works for brass ensemble. Parts include trumpet 1/2, horn in F, horn in Eb, trombone (BC), Bb trombone (TC), Tuba (BC) and Eb bass (TC/BC).
