Taking inspiration from the lakes of northern New York state, as well as Niagara Falls, Falling Water is composed in the form of a fantasia, featuring multiple sections of varied textures, restless tonality, and dramatic energy. Breaking free from some of the usual conventions of traditional concert band writing, this work is fresh sounding and a welcome addition to the repertoire for young bands.
