This inventive and enduring Opera, in three acts, is based on the Libretto by Moritz West and Ludwig Held. Der Vogelhandler or the Bird seller tells the charming story of a Tyrolean bird seller and his many loves. It contains lush, rich and alluring melodies and was particularly fresh when it was premiered in 1891, for a time revitalising the Operetta genre.
