This expressive piano sonata Written in Mallorca and Geneva during the summer of 1982, the year before Ginastera’s death. It was commissioned by the University of Michigan and dedicated to Pianist Barbara Nissman, who premieredthe work later that year. It features his characteristic angularity and imaginative rhythms, the quick initial tempo sets the pace for the entire work and the rhythmic textures that follow are based on American Indian dances andthe ceremonial dances of Latin America.

A wonderful work for Piano Solo by a composer at the height of his skill and a tune that will become one of your favourite pieces.
