Frédéric Chopin is known worldwide as one of the leading musicians of the Romantic era. This collection of Impromptus for solo Piano contains the three impromptus published during the Polish virtuoso pianist’s lifetime, and the Fantasie-Impromptu (in two versions) issued posthumously. This Urtext edition is based on many different sources and follows the current state of research to present the pieces in a form as close to the original intentions of the composer as possible. The comments at the end of the volume give detailed information about the basic sources and comparative readings. An editorial preface in German, English and French is included. All four of the Impromptus offer a refreshing challenge for skilled pianists in the usual enchanting style of Chopin ’s Piano pieces.
