A work for solo clarinet in B flat, timpani, percussion and strings, commissioned by the London Symphony Orchestra. It was first performed in September 1991 at the Barbican Centre, London, by Andrew Marriner (clarinet) and the London Symphony Orchestra directed by Michael Tilson Thomas.
