Song Of Songs was first written in 2009, and arranged for chamber ensemble in 2010. The lyrics were by Andrew Hawes , and the chamber version was scored for solo Soprano, SATB chorus, String Quintet, and Harp. It is written in six movements, each inspired by a section of text from the Old Testament Book of the same name. Patrick Hawes (b. 1958) is a contemporary British composer. He has been building a reputation as one of the foremost composers working in the UK today, a position which was cemented when he was appointed as Classic FM’s Composer in Residence for 2006-2007.
