Sight Reading Violin: Grades 6–8
Sight Reading Violin: Grades 6–8 is a progressive method designed to prepare violinists for the sight reading requirements of Trinity College London Grades 6 to 8. The book offers a structured, steady-paced approach that builds technical and musical confidence, ensuring players can meet the demands of advanced sight reading with ease.
Ten focused lessons for each grade
Each grade includes ten lessons, with every lesson centred around a clear skill or concept. Along the way, students receive both general and instrument-specific tips that improve their ability to interpret rhythm, phrasing, patterns and musical structure in real time.
Preparatory exercises and duets
Every lesson presents four or five preparatory exercises leading to a duet. Though duets are not part of the exam requirements, they play an essential role in strengthening ensemble awareness, rhythmic fluency and musical confidence. Each duet builds directly on the ideas explored in the previous exercises, reinforcing learning through familiarity.
Official Trinity specimen tests included
Each grade section concludes with official Trinity sight reading specimen tests. By the time the student completes all ten lessons, they will be thoroughly prepared to approach the exam-format tasks with security and musical understanding.
