Niels-Henning Orsted Pedersen, known to the world as simply NHOP, was a Danish virtuoso Bassist who mostly played in bop-oriented jazz settings. Renowned around the world for his masterful technique and dedication to furthering the instrument, his sudden death in 2005 was a shock to the whole Jazz community. The Bass In The Background contains a great selection of Niels-Henning Orsted Pedersen's work, covering thirty years from 1962-1992. This is a terrific CD that demonstrates exactly why NHOP was one of the best bassists in the world, whilst also commemorating his life.
