Sophaenox Sax
Sophaenox is a work for unaccompanied saxophone. With no accompaniment surrounding the musical line, the solo part's phrasing and tone come to the foreground, concentrating attention on the instrument's own expressive presence.
Musical shape and preparation
The work offers a setting for exploring solo performance as a complete musical form. The saxophonist carries the continuity from the opening to the final gesture without a supporting piano part.
