Franz Schubert – Lieder Volume 10 (High Voice and Piano) – Bärenreiter Urtext Edition
Volume 10 of the Bärenreiter Urtext series presents lieder composed by Franz Schubert between September 1816 and August 1817. This was a defining period in Schubert’s development as a song composer, particularly marked by his collaboration with the poet Johann Mayrhofer. Mayrhofer’s introspective and philosophical poetry allowed Schubert to deepen his expressive range and harmonic exploration.
The edition, based on the New Schubert Edition, is edited by Walther Dürr. It features a clear, clean engraving suitable for performance and study, with a detailed foreword in both German and English by Wolfgang Thein and Matthew Gardner. English translations of all texts are included, provided by Richard Wigmore.
An essential volume for singers with high voice and accompanists interested in Schubert’s early masterworks.
