Uendelighedsvals (Infinity Waltz)

Two waltzes by Jacob Gade meet Per Nørgård’s infinity series in Britta Byström’s Uendelighedsvals. Melodies from Efterår and Valse-Pleurante intertwine with new material in this orchestral tribute to Gade, lasting around ten minutes.

Pizzicato strings, harp, vibraphone, cowbells and temple gongs shape its sound. The notes spelling GADE also enter the texture as the waltz moves from slow to fast and back again. The work was commissioned by the Danish National Symphony Orchestra.
