Symphony No.1 - Igneous
A volcano’s passage from dormancy to eruption shapes Igneous. Tension accumulates before the music breaks out, scattering its motifs across the orchestra’s high and low registers. The work grew from Cowie’s first piano sonata and his interest in geology, developing into a symphonic exploration of the forces that shape the earth.
